Does September Mean Change?

I was having a tea with a friend last week and we were chatting about how September seems to be a month of change for us. She mentioned that for her September always seems to mark a new season in her life, and the lead up to it can often leave her feeling anxious and overwhelmed. I agreed with her.

September has always had the mark of something “new” for me, whether that was a new school year, a new job, or just a literal change of season. For example, Autumn (my favorite season) starts this Friday, September 23rd, this year. This September for all the global changes that are happening, I think many of us are really feeling it.

And while there is generally a lot of excitement for these changes, it’s not uncommon for them to be accompanied by stress and anxiety: from what has passed and what has yet to come to pass.

And for many of us, the stress and anxiety caused by the changes can be quite derailing.

This is a reminder to you that it’s okay to acknowledge that times of change can be difficult, to allow yourself to greet your emotions without judgement, and that it’s more than okay to reach out and ask for support. That support can be anything from meeting up with a friend for a coffee, or calling a family member, or getting professional support.

What does September mean to you?

Send me a message and let me know!
