Meditation for Autumn and Letting Go

Do you ever wonder if it’s even possible to release some of the weight you carry upon your shoulders?
Because there have definitely been moments in my life that I’ve wondered just that.
I was walking through a local park last week and Autumn was in full throttle: brown, gold and red leaves dancing all around me, slowly drifting down to the Earth. I stood next to the river for a long while just watching the leaves drift down, landing in the water and floating away in the current.
It was a good reminder for me in that moment that I don’t need to hold on to everything, I don’t need to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders, it’s okay to let go.
As I watched the leaves drift down I imagined I could place my worries, thoughts of dis-ease, and anything else I no longer needed to hold on to, onto each of the leaves that drifted down to the river. I watched the leaves float away and I imagined the weight of those worries float away along with them.
Afterwards, I felt so much lighter and the weight on my chest and in my shoulders lessened. I hadn’t even fully realized how much I was holding until I did the visualization.
A visualization like this doesn’t perhaps change the reality of life’s circumstances, but it does help us release the tension and stress that we hold in our physical body. This then helps us come back into a calmer state where we can focus more clearly on our situation and respond in a manner that is much more beneficial.
On The Happy Edit Podcast this week, I wanted to share a bonus episode of this visualization as a tool that you could use for releasing and letting go that which no longer serves you. I hope you enjoy the 10-minute guided meditation.
