Your Voice Is Power!

Have you ever thought about how much more your voice can do besides just communicating with others?
Your voice is your unique tool for self-expression. Whether it's through singing your heart out, speaking on a stage, or even creating art, your voice allows you to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with the world.
Your voice also plays a vital role in nurturing your well-being: emotional, intellectual and physical. When you express yourself verbally, you release emotions, reduce stress, and connect more deeply with your inner self.
A lot of times we focus only on how we use our voice to connect with others and so often we forget how important it is to pay attention to how we use our voice in connecting and communicating with ourselves. It is so easy for us to get stuck in vicious cycles of negative self-talk, downplay or disregard how we’re feeling and disregard our needs. Not to mention, imposter syndrome anyone?
Stressful situations at work or at home feed into our lack of and negative self-communication. The more our nervous system feels the need to protect itself, the easier it is to get feel more negative—towards ourselves and towards the world around us. And the more negative we stay mentally, the more this feeds into our body’s perception of fear and keeps it in fight/flight/freeze mode. (As said: a vicious cycle.)
Eventually this can lead to us completely losing any understanding of what makes us happy, what brings us joy, and what makes us feel GOOD—inside and out. We become disempowered internally, which then leads to us feeling more disempowered externally.

Which is why (re)establishing supportive self-communication is so vital. This self-communication can come from many different angles such as daily check-ins, mindful moments to slow down daily tasks, and practicing something like Yoga or Qigong with mindful awareness. In my own healing journey and that of the many people I have worked with over the years, I’ve found that even just a few seconds of meeting yourself with compassionate awareness is the key to going from feeling stressed out, overwhelmed and exhausted to feeling balanced, empowered and thriving.
