Wellness Wednesday - A Walk in Nature

It’s so easy for us to get wrapped up in our daily lives, and especially those of us who live in cities, have busy jobs, or even those who live in cold climates, we forget to go out, see the sun, see nature.

If you’re anything like me, as soon as I get out of the concrete jungle and into nature, I instantly feel something inside me unwind and go, “haaaaahh this is good.”

Now going walking in the mountains, in valleys or along the coast is fabulous, but these days (with COVID restrictions and all) that’s not always possible. But rendezvous through the local park, surrounded by green, help as well. Anywhere in nature that you feel comfortable and at ease, really.

Spending time in nature helps the body and mind to relax and reset. And it’s not just me saying this:

Researchers have found anything between 20-30 minutes, 3 days a week, can be really helpful to support our mental health.

It’s all about making a lifestyle habit about it. One of the best ways to encourage yourself to do it, is to make a plan with a friend and help each other show up.

I personally try to get at least one walk in a day where I interact with nature… but that’s not always easy, especially when I get bogged down with work and feel stressed and “there’s no time for anything!” I think those are especially the moments that I need to stop, go for a short walk along the beach or in the nearby park. (I realize how lucky I am to have access to both on my doorstep!)

How often do you go walking in nature?

Send me a message to let me know!
