I’ve been noticing more and more that many of us, myself included, are struggling lately.

They aren’t aways the same struggles but I have noticed some common themes:

  • Struggling with the long slog of work, tiptoeing or even tumbling into burnout.
  • Struggling with injuries that are causing continuous, long-term pain and discomfort, and relief isn’t easy to come by.
  • Struggling with long-term fatigue, recovering from depleting illnesses, like COVID-19.
  • There can be many reasons behind all this—constant, continual stress is high on the list.

If you are struggling, be sure to get help—professional help if the situation calls for it.

And, give yourself grace. Continuing to push ourselves when we’re dealing with these long-term issues can often make things worse.

Learning to take things day by day, listening to mind & body, planning ahead (but being willing to be flexible), and prioritizing what is necessary can help us reduce the continual strain on us.

3Ps to Support Yourself:

Pace -> Give yourself permission to slow down and say "no", break activities into smaller tasks, build rests into your daily plan. And importantly, give yourself grace.

Plan -> Plan out your day and/or week, don’t do everything. Cut anything that you need to cut out. Are there certain times of the day that energy or concentration are low? See if you can change activities around to avoid tiring activities at that time.

Prioritize -> What really needs to be done? What can be put aside for awhile? Balance what you need to do versus what you can do for fun and enjoyment.

Reach out when you need help, to friends, to family, to health professionals. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to struggle in silence.

If you ever just want to chat, send me a message!
